Local information for SSRM 2024 participants

 

Location

SSRM will be hosted by the Faculty of Information Technology (Műszaki Informatikai Kar), University of Pannonia (Egyetem utca 2, 8200 Veszprém, Hungary). Plenary lectures are in room 726 (7th floor), Welcome party is at the entrance hall, poster sections in 416.

 

Hotel Magister dormitory

The dormitory is located withing 13 minutes walking distance from the faculty. 

Use local buses 4 and 4A from the main bus station and from the railway station to get there. Walking distance from the main bus station is appr. 26 mins (1800m).

Baláca Panzió

The hotel is within 18 minutes walking distance to the faculty.

Use local buses 4 and 4A from the main bus station and from the railway station to get there.

Travel information

Veszprem is about 110 km far from Budapest and easily accessible by public transportation within 2 hours. Lake Balaton (14 km) and Bakony mountains (20 km) are within easy reach with the ability of great social programs. Perhaps the smallest wine region in Hungary, the Somlo Hill is just 50km away - if you are interested in some of the finest Hungarian natural wines from local producers then this is the right place for you!

From Budapest airport to Veszprém: Fly to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (BUD). From the airport, you can get to a railway or bus station by means of local transportation (for example take the Bus 100E or 200E), and take a direct train or bus to Veszprem.

From Budapest airport to Veszprém by bus:

From airport take local bus 200E to Kőbánya Kispest, then change to metro M3 to Népliget Autobusz pályaudvar (Népliget bus station). Here busses depart to Veszprém (check menetrendek.hu for departures).

From Budapest airport to Veszprém by train:

From airport take local bus 100E to Astoria square, then metro M2 to Déli pu (pu: pályaudvar - Déli railway station). Check menetrendek.hu for departures.

From Budapest to Veszprém by bus:

Main departure site is Népliget Autobusz pályaudvar (Népliget bus station). Check menetrendek.hu for departures.

From Budapest to Veszprém by train:

Main departure site is Déli pu (pu: pályaudvar - Déli railway station). Check menetrendek.hu for departures.

From Veszprém bus station and from Veszprém train station to dormitory and hotel Baláca Panzió:

Take local bus 4 or 4A towards "Vámosi úti forduló" and get off at stop "József Attila utca" for the dormintory and at "Vámosi úti forduló" for the Panzió.

Local bus tickets can be bought at the driver for cash, or at the bus stops of the railway station and main bus station by card.

Climate

The climate in Hungary during July and August is typically warm and sunny. 
Temperature: Average daily temperatures range from about 18°C to 32°C . It can occasionally get hotter, especially during heatwaves.
Precipitation: July and August are generally dry months, but occasional thunderstorms can occur.
Sunshine: There are long hours of sunshine, making it a popular time for outdoor activities and tourism. If staying hours under the Sun, UV protecting sun creams are suggested.

Electricity

Voltage and Frequency: Hungary operates on voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz. Travelers should ensure that their electrical devices are compatible with these specifications or use a voltage converter.
Plug Types: The plug types used in Hungary are Type C and Type F. These plugs have two round pins. Travelers from countries with different plug types will need a plug adapter to use their devices.

Currency

Currency: The official currency of Hungary is the Hungarian Forint (HUF).
Currency Exchange: Travelers can exchange their currency for Forints at banks, currency exchange offices, and airports. It's advisable to compare rates to get the best deal. In Veszprém Correct change can be recommended.

Time Difference

The local summer time in Hungary is Central European Summer Time (CEST), which is UTC+2. During the summer months, Hungary observes daylight saving time, and clocks are advanced by one hour.

Hungary has strict regulations regarding smoking in public places - no smoking outside designated areas.
